Equipment in the pole barn caught on fire causing a lot of soot damage for this Bemidji homeowner. SERVPRO of Bemidji, Grand Rapids and Hibbing got in there quickly and started the restoration process.

Our Technicians follow Certified Professional guidelines to remove soot after a fire by cleaning bottom to top to avoid streaking. Ceilings are done last. To reduce chances of mold growth, the areas cleaned will be wiped dry. Once completely dry, painting would be done if needed.

What NOT to do after a fire:

  • Do not attempt to clean it yourself. Soot is dangerous to breathe and if surfaces are not properly washed, the damage can be made worse.
  • Do not use any canned or packaged food that may have been stored near the fire, heat or water.
  • Don’t turn on ceiling fixtures if ceiling is wet as the wiring may be damaged.
